A striking reflection of Ethiopian roots, this child of Eritrean parents is proudly emboldened by her cultural heritage. It’s that pride which pushes the envelope in each of her mostly one-of-a-kind statement pieces liberated through the birth of each season’s collection of Azaem Jewelry.
As a tribute to her personal heroin and beloved mother, Meaza, Telahun redefines the sheer strength of an unapolgetically confident woman through the bold statements exhibited through Azaem Jewelry. (Azaem is Meaza spelled backwards.)

About The Designer
Creating stunning works of wearable art, designer Tamar Telahun’s jewelry reflects her modernist sensibility and eclectic background. Born in Ethiopia of Eritrean parents, the former runway model, art consultant and interior designer creates limited edition accessories in fine materials.Tamar’s exquisite taste is the natural outgrowth of her varied experiences and education. She has studied theater, worked in and around fashion, fine art, and entertainment, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in Interior Design. She has lived and worked in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Italy before making her home in Atlanta.
Blending her passion for color, form, and texture, Tamar’s sculptural pieces are meticulously worked in pearl, wood, coral, and more. Designs are both subtle and dramatic. They push boundaries, yet retain an inherent femininity. “My designs are bold,” says the artist. “But they are truly wearable. Like the women who are drawn to them, they are both strong and refined.” With an eye for delicate organic and geometric shapes, striking dimensions, and lyrical repetitions, Tamar’s necklaces, bracelets and other accessories stack, twist and tumble in elegant statements. Like works of art, they create pleasurable tensions, as in the finest contemporary or modernist paintings.
Says the designer about her jewelry: “My personal style is elegant eclectic, drawn from the people and places that are a part of me. Each experience, each strand of this wearable art has its own deep well of inspiration. I see through the eyes of several cultures at once. It is a gift to me, which I pour into my work.” Tamar’s jewelry has been featured in major fashion magazines including In Style, Unleashed, Peach Atlanta, Cosmopolitan, VIBE, Flaunt, Anthem, Women’s Wear Daily and many other publications.
